For the past decade, a small group of DuPont residents has supported the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County through an annual event called Dog-A-Thon. In 2020 and 2021, Dog-A-Thon was a virtual event. In 2020, the Grrrls Just Wanna Have Fun team collected money on a street corner in front of one of DuPont's public parks. Along with a Facebook fundraiser, the team raised $1,400 for the shelter that serves DuPont, WA. In 2021, the team raised $1,500 through Facebook and hosted a Dogs 4 Dogs barbecue for donors who gave $25 or more. The dogs enjoying hotdogs here are all rescues. Ariel was adopted from a Texas-based Great Pyrenees rescue. Raven, a Formosan mountain dog, was rescued from Taiwan. Scooby was a street dog in Mexico. Scout was adopted from a rescue organization in Arizona. You are welcome to download and use any of these photographs.
